Shigeru Miyamoto on Super Mario Run: “We really wanted to not make a Free-to … – FZ

There were many who were surprised by the fact that Nintendo would start to cooperate with Apple and release one of their strongest brands on iOS devices (and later to Android). Nintendo has always been very cautious with their kultspel, but probably they were rather curious about a collaboration after Pokémon Go enchanted in the entire world.

Super Mario Run – a pretty simple game where Mario automatically runs forward and the player must press the screen to jump – was announced a few months ago. Some selected parts of the game will be free, but the full version will cost 109kr.

Shigeru Miyamoto recently talked with the site Glixel, and in the interview he mentions, inter alia, from where they got the idea for Super Mario Run, and how they thought about the economy.

Because Nintendo is always trying to do something unique we also wanted to try and do something different on the business side too. We really didn \ ‘t want to do something in the free to play space, but in order to make sure we had the opportunity to do what we wanted [the victim a taste of the game for free, and charge $ 9.99 to unlock the whole thing], we had to talk to the people who are actually running the shop. Naturally the people on the App Store initially told us that the free-to-play approach is a good one, but I’ve always had this image that Apple and Nintendo have very similar philosophies. As we started working together, I found that to be true and they became very welcoming of trying something new.

He also mentions the fact that many young people will play the game, and that it can therefore become problematic with the micro transactions.

For Nintendo, we have a lot of kids that play our products. It was important for us to be able to offer Super Mario Run in a way that parents would feel assured that they could buy the game and give it to their kids without having to worry about future transactions.

Super Mario Run is released on the 15 december, so just a few days. What do you think about the game’s price tag?
