It digital Sweden – in numbers – New Technology

the Swedes spend now a fifth of their waking time in front of the internet.

Sweden is becoming increasingly more digital. It may sound obvious, but it becomes extra clear when you take part of the new study Swedes and the internet 2016. It demonstrates the digitisation in black and white. Almost ten years ago, in 2007, was a swede in an average 14.3 hours per week on the internet. In 2016, the corresponding figure is 23,6 hours. This is an increase of 2.2 per cent just since last year and represents around a fifth of our waking time. Looking at people aged between 16 and 25 years of age the figure rises to almost 40 hours a week, the same time as a helstidarbete. Internet infrastructure foundation in Sweden, which is behind the study, points out, however, that they counted time as a student in the 40 hours.

Our internetkonsumtion, however, has partially migrated to the mobile phone. Five years ago, 27 per cent of swedes have a smart phone. This year, the corresponding figure is 81 percent. 78% use the internet on their mobile phones, up from 54 percent in 2012.

Nearly every american buys things or services on the internet each month, compared with 34% in 2010. 36 per cent of internet users over the age of 16 using online banking in your mobile phone each week, a doubling since 2013. Between the ages of 26-35 years are more use online banking in your mobile phone than through the computer: 83 against 82 per cent.

Mobile bank-id has become a great success since its inception in 2010. Two years ago, used every other smartphone user is mobile bank id. Two years later, the corresponding figure is 79 per cent. The beta patch Swish is also popular: 66 per cent of all smartphone users using Swish.

more and More are selling any time things through the internet. It is now more than half – 55 percent – of all internet users who ever do it. This is an increase since 2015 when it was 47 per cent. 13 per cent sell things every month.

However, do not have two of the delningsekonomins big names had much of an impact in Sweden than in for so long. Uthyrningstjänsten Airbnb has, somewhat surprisingly, perhaps, only been used by 15% of the Swedish population. The figure is however higher in the age group of 26-55 years, with every fifth person anyone ever booked via Airbnb. Than slower it goes for taxitjänsten Uber: only 9 per cent of the stockholmers have experience of private taxi services.

the Report is based on IIS (the internet infrastructure foundation in Sweden) the study Swedes and the internet 2016. It is based on data from 3000 interviews, based on a random sample of the population from 11 years and upwards.
