Human remains, arouses the interest of pupils – bbc Radio

Many high schools have left the teaching materials with the human remains. The cathedral school in Växjö, sweden is no exception.

– It is a great privilege for me to be true to be on such a large scale and be able to show, ” says Torbjörn Lindell, a senior lecturer in biology and chemistry at Katedralskolan in Växjö, sweden.

In a mapping among the schools, which Vetenskapsradion has done, concludes that many naturvetarprogram have some form of human preparations – both skeletons, and preserved fetuses. It varies however to what extent they are used in the teaching.

” We keep them locked up so that no one will access them. I’m glad that this management does not exist anymore but now when it is here, I see it as a heritage that we are obliged to manage, ” says Torbjörn Lindell.

In radio sweden study answer 19 of the 24 selected schools, that is to say, 80 percent, that they have some sort of human specimen. Most of the specimens have been collected in the 1800s and in a way that would be both illegal and unethical in the day.
