Music giant take up the fight for listeners with Spotify and Apple – Business Week

The competition for music listeners increases, when the company launches a new streaming service.

the American radio service Pandora Media may go up against Swedish Spotify and Apple Music. The company may come next month launch two pay services for streaming music. It writes the business newspaper Wall Street Journal, referring to the sources.

Pandora be under the newspaper’s sources to be close to signing contracts with major labels. The Agreement shall apply to both the US and international markets. The agreements will not be signed.

Pandora has been around for 16 years and the company has not had to have agreements with record companies when the listeners are not able to select specific songs to listen to, writes the Wall Street Journal. The service has only been available in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. According to the sources Pandora plans to launch the service first in the US and other English-speaking countries.

Pandora has 80 million users. The vast majority use the company’s free service.
