Microsoft buys digital assistant to help with the planning Cortana – IDG.se

The deal presented today – and is part of Microsoft’s ongoing strategy to build intelligent software for productivity and using artificial intelligence. Other features Microsoft invested in the Office Delve, who finds documents shared within an organization and Focused Inbox in Outlook – which filter out unimportant email.

The AI-based assistant can schedule meetings for large groups.
Genee service will be shut down the first of september. It is unclear whether the functionality of the assistant will be connected directly to Office 365 or if the group behind Genee only will work to improve various Microsoft products.

But IDG News writes that it would be logical if Microsoft integrated this kind of scheduling both Outlook and Cortana, the digital assistant that Microsoft has tried to get users to use on different platforms and that compete with Apple’s Siri.

No terms of the deal revealed.
