Last Wednesday we reported on a trojan that affects Mac users and spread in the wild on the web – the second malware for Macs – and even now it’s time again.
Security firm ESET has discovered a new malware, also a form of trojan that spreads via a zip file containing a fake text or jpg file.
the file is in fact a program that runs in the terminal and install a control server. This then waiting in the background, and as soon as you open another application opens a dialog box where it asks for the admin password. As with backdoor.mac.elanor you are protected by Apple’s Gatekeeper, which warns of a program from an unknown developer as soon as you try to open the fake file.
