Kia chief: “I think Elon Musk wants to sell Tesla” – Expressen

Elon Musks Tesla has become something to relate to all of the automotive world. When Kia shows off new SUV Niro in Barcelona says marketing manager in Europe, the Portuguese Artur Martins, about how he sees the electric car manufacturer away in California.

– I think that Elon Musk wants to sell Tesla, the only question is when the time is right. I think he would prefer to keep on with its space projects.



The car is attractive to Google and Apple

Martin stresses that this is his personal opinion but for all calls with bilchefer all levels around the world, it is impossible not to touch Tesla.

– Mercedes, BMW and Audi can pick out competitors and then get Tesla problems. But it is also so much else Tesla changed, not just electric cars, it is the whole way of looking at the technology and the cars.

Artur Martins is also convinced that neither Apple or Google really wants to become a car builder, the are not where they should earn money. Instead, it is a reality in which we are stuck in an autonomous car that attracts information carriers.

Studies in the US have shown that the only time that we have left where we do not use the phone is when we are driving. And can self-driving cars do we use the telephone and the computer even more is worth billions for companies like Apple and Google.



Investing digitally to take market

Artur Martins has previously worked as a car salesman in Brazil and he tells how car buyers’ behavior changed fundamentally. We know today that make visiting the showroom, customers already know what they want, but there are also studies how the digital car purchasing goes on.

– A common bilkund begins with five options. It then grows to seven before the car buyer begins to remove options. Eventually remains only one – but in 25 percent of cases, the option which was not among the first five, says Martins.

Kia – which aims to become bigger and picking car buyers from other brands – this is good news. This means that with a smart digital strategy can pick the market.

– When we get Virtual Reality, we can offer a new experience digitally and there is development going on that give us gloves where we can feel the materials and controls. Then we can really offer a true digital car buyers, says Artur Martins.
