The victim pays tribute to the Swedes as heroes in the open letter – Swedish Dagbladet

was in early 2015 as the two Swedish doctoral students Carl-Fredrik Arndt and Peter Jonsson came cycling inside the campus of Stanford, south of San Francisco.

Here they saw Brock Turner raped an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. According to BuzzFeed News Swedes should immediately felt that something was wrong. They tackled down Turner, a 20-year sims nationally acclaimed star, before they called the police.

The prosecution of rape was later down. Instead, Turner was convicted of three sexual abuse earlier. The penalty was six months in prison and three years of probation.

Now, a long open letter from the victim, now 23-year-old woman, again brought the debate about the length of the sentence, especially as Brock Turner’s father and friends also publicly defended the swimmer. The two Swedish students, who in the woman’s letter described as heroes, were the main witnesses at the trial.

One of them, Peter Jonsson, published the victim’s letter on his Facebook page on Tuesday. “For me this letter unique and so close you can get to put into words an experience that can not be described with words,” he writes.

The woman writes in part: “I did not just hear that I had been the victim of sexual abuse. I was also told that I – because I could not remember – not technically able to prove that I did not like it “

For Expressen says Carl-Fredrik Arndt that it was Peter who managed to catch the perpetrator.

– Since we held him down until police arrived, he said.

Carl-Fredrik Arndt says that he was very moved by taking part of the woman’s letter, where she writes that she sleeps with two bicycles drawn on a piece of paper above the bed to remind themselves that there are heroes in this story and that she will never forget the protection and warmth she experienced.

– We have not met her after the incident, but I saw it the other day and it was very strong. Obviously, it is a great joy to be able to help her, says Carl-Fredrik Arndt.
