more equal emoji – Today’s Media

Google wants to show female emoji in professional work roles to better reflect the world as it is.

Google’s new emojis showing women not only fixes her hair, dancing side by side with each other, wearing “bunny ears” or marries. The new emojisarna depicts women in professional professions including doctors, welders and teachers.

The design has been developed by the Unicode Consortium that works to standardize and approve emoji.

The team behind emojisarna hope they can empower young women, who are actually the most active users of the right emoji and thus better reflect the roles that women play in the world, writes the BBC.

the entire 82 per cent of girls aged 16 -24 years using emoji each day, according to a survey by the Protector & amp; Gamble, the BBC continues. More than half of participants in the survey thought that the female emojisarna was stereotypical.

The team behind emojisarna are inspired by an article in the New York Times written by Amy Butcher, writes the BBC. The question the author just the stereotypical emojisarna.

– We are told that we are the new generation of American women. We are no longer a minority, in fact, it is we who are the main family carers in American homes. And yet it’s best we get a flamenco dancer, Amy Butcher writes in the article.

This can be seen as another step towards more diverse emoji. Previously, the options on skin color increased so that not only white people, and hands are represented. It has also been added to emoji for example, show men holding hands with each other.

So far emojisarna just a suggestion, and it is unclear whether the new design will have time to be included in the next release of emoji that takes place during the middle of the year.
