Here is Google’s big bet on the VR – Mobile

It started with Cardboard but with VR platform Daydream to act foundations for the manufacturers’ own efforts VR takes Google a major next step. Mobile Manufacturers must certify their phones to ensure they meet the requirements, and this year promises Samsung, HTC, LG, Huawei, ZTE, Asus, Xiaomi and Alcatel all have units available that support Daydream platform. Interesting to note is the manufacturer who is not with this, Sony’s name missing from the list as well as the Motorola / Lenovo.

As a user, you should therefore use the phone and place it in a headset, the same as the Samsung Gear VR works today, but now also based on Android N and available from several phone manufacturers. The headset itself, Google has made a reference design and there is also a control that allows you to interact with the VR world. With the control which consists of a small plate of buttons and sensors that you hold in your hand, you can, for example, shoot, steer and throw things in the game.

Apps will be able to download VR directly from Google Play and among app developers are EA, CNN, Ubisoft, CCP, WSJ and several others. Google Street View will come to Daydream well as Google Photos, Google Play Movies and YouTube. Daydream released this fall, but developers can start making apps already. Below you can see some of the companies already promised that they will offer VR apps in the platform.
