Contacts and stickers – this is startup companies – New Technology

Why startups sit in places like Sup 46, Minc and Mid Eng Prk? To triggered by like-minded and contacts. To understand the meaning of growth hacking and fuckup nights. And for the stickers, of course.

Sup 46, one of the hubs for startups in Stockholm, has moved to new premises at Regeringsgatan 65, in the city center. One block away is the epicenter of companies with Tictail, who arrived a little longer. And a few more steps away is Knackeriet, which has two assembly points for the development of the Old Town.

All cities with self-respect now boasting about their venues for today’s acclaimed technology entrepreneurs. In Malmö, places names like The Ground and Minc. In Östersund city attracts with Mid Eng Prk.

The real estate company AMF provides to the tenant Sup 46 a good deal for the young stars to help make the neighborhood “interesting”. And at the next meeting with the Prime Minister’s Innovation group remains “the conditions for startups” on the agenda.

– Startup companies are the new people’s home, the entrepreneurs have become the answer to everything, says Henrik Hoffman, a little joke, a little seriously .

He is one of the 250 people in the 50′s company sitting on Sup 46 and is marketing manager for Qasa, which is developing a service for sublease. The company recently received the 3 million, and is now part of Hemnet.

Henry Hoffman sees several advantages to collecting development in one place. Qasa has helped several of Sup 46 companies to obtain housing for their employees, and Henrik Hoffman will participate in a panel discussion on the hot issue of housing for the Sup 46 events in Almedalen this summer.

– We had never got started so early with marketing via influential bloggers if we met people from Beatly in the break room.

the coffee place is only open to member companies. But the other day opened Sup 46 a café where even ordinary people can go and drink in the atmosphere if they wish. A cappuccino costs 30 kronor, an orange juice as well.

On the couch, I meet Victoria Wagman, who just completed his lesson in “Coding for beginners”, with students from the other member companies. It is an initiative by the companies themselves. Sup 46 stands for the premises.

Victoria Wagman has its own smoothie, which looks pretty scary.

– But it is yummy. There is by the way an app, “Superjuiceme”, with a lot of good recipes and videos, which I can recommend.

Everyone helps each other. How do they do in Silicon Valley and so do these Regeringsgatan.

Victoria Wagman is the developer of the 46 Elks since four months. The company develops cloud based phone and SMS services, and has nearly 600 customers. Some 20 of them are Sup 6 companies or their friends’ companies.

A startup must have a strange name. But why 46 Elks?

– To 46 is Sweden’s country code and moose are cool animals, she explains.

Stranger than that, it is not. The Company had sales of SEK 2 million last year. And has received SEK 6 million from Almi Invest and others.

In addition to the strange name, a start-up companies have a “stand”, a sticker with your own logo. It is an inexpensive way to show that you are also in the physical world. They can be set up anywhere. I have seen them at the restaurant toilets in startup-land of Israel, and on lampposts in the high-tech city of Boulder. It is clearly a global phenomenon.

The moose is understood among brands at Victoria Wagmans computer.

– And no, I have to make a statement. I have one of Edward Snowden, and one for “Hack for Sweden”, a hackathon where people come together to do good things for the country.

There are critics who think Sup 46 is nothing more than hyped office space, which attracts young tenants with the help of colorful walls and room for football. A playground for youngsters, sighs someone.

But everyone I talk to is reputable behind the cool facade. They want to take over the world, and sits here because of the contacts. Here is the opportunity to meet with investors, mentors, customers and people to hire.

– We wanted to sit with companies that are in the same phase and has a digital product. Some other places were too fuzzy. Too much yoga on working hours, if you understand. It must be serious, but relaxed, says Felicia Åkerlind, who is a founder of It’s My Styl, a social network with 50 000 young fashion-conscious girls as members.

Her company is currently finalizing an investment round where many contacts coming through the network of Sup 46. And it was when she went Coding course last year as Felicia Åkerlind realized that 46 Elks had a product that would solve her problems.

– it’s My Styls customers are young girls, who have neither acquired e-mail or Facebook. Their ID is their mobile number, and with 46 Elks SMS service, we direct contact with them.

Both 46 Elks and Beatly emphasizes the value of sitting so close to some of its customers. They get immediate feedback if something is not working and tips on how service can be improved.

– It’s a real luxury for us to have few customers so close. As it is in all the management books: where near your customers. And certain requests for improvements may only require a half-hour job, says Victoria Wagman at 46 Elks.

Victor Strömberg, Sales Director and co-founder of Beatly, triggered by sitting with like minded people.

– But nothing happens by itself! It is required that you are hungry to take advantage of a place like this, he says.

Beatly launched its service in August last year, and expects sales of 6 million kronor a year. The company is currently trying to bring in an investment of 2 million. Beatly working with several Sup46 companies but also with companies Linas web and Bjorn Borg.

Viktor Stromberg appreciate many of the events, organized in the premises.

– Be on a lecture here with Rebel & amp; Growth, which told of growth hacking. It was very good.

With the growth hacking refers to how a company gets to an exponential growth by a small but very important change. As Spotify ran “invites only” at the beginning, which led customers to flow to.

Many also like the draws for fuckup Nights, an event where others tell of times when it has gone wrong. Among others, Henrik Hoffman.

– We have much to learn from each other. Many are in the same situation. How to deal with investors, how do you out into the world?

But he admits that he sometimes gets tired of all the “startup” hose and all mingle.

– Why must the hot fuckup Nights? And it is perhaps a little too much mingling here for my taste, but I need on the other hand did not go at all.

The young innovative cars have suggestions on how Sup 46 can be improved. Sometimes they take things into their own hands and make a “small nicks”, as it is called in their language.

– Someone put a piece of furniture paw in the door frame here so it does not sound like much when the door batted again. A good small notch, says Viktora Wagman

Henry Hoffman wonder why all gathering places for development must be seated in the city.

– I probably tried a local three subway stations further out from the city . We pay 25,000 kronor a month for a room of 35 square meters here.

He also gives a tip to young entrepreneurs who have not yet received any place.

– It is possible to acquire many contacts yet. In Stockholm, the Tech Meetup you would go to in order to meet like-minded people.
