At least two-year investigation against The Pirate Bay – New Technology

The Pirate Bay’s Swedish domains must be closed by today’s verdict. The decision is based on a very extensive investigation following a crackdown in autumn 2014.

Today’s ruling in the Svea Court of Appeal states that Fredrik Neij was responsible for the Swedish Pirate Bay domains during the period 2010-2012. The basis for judgment comes from an ongoing investigation against Fredrik Neij copyright infringement for Pirate Bay during the current period.

In December 2014 the police made a highly publicized crackdown on a data center in Nacka. The seizure was copyright infringement on The Pirate Bay. The material is now part of a preliminary investigation on Fredrik Neij, regarding the operation of The Pirate Bay and criminal charges of copyright infringement.

– There is a fairly large data sets to be analyzed. I can tell you at the earliest in the autumn when the investigation might be finished, says prosecutor Henrik Rasmusson at the International Public Prosecution Office.

This means that the police will have spent at least two years to investigate the material from the raid in 2014. At the raid, police seized 50 servers from the company Port Lanes data center in a rock cavern in Nacka.

in today’s ruling goes Svea Court of the District Court’s line from last year – domains piratebay.se and thepiratebay.se linked to criminal activity. Therefore, the right passes them to the state. Fredrik Neij was guilty of criminal involvement, “despite the fact that the preliminary investigation is still under way against him.”

According to Fredrik Neij, he has not had anything to do with the Pirate Bay after 2009. The Swedish domains are registered on a Thai woman. According to the Court of Appeal is it about rail transfers, ie, Fredrik Neij is the one who in reality have been in charge during the period 2010-2012.

– It does not mean Frederick, says his lawyer Jonas Nilsson.

According to today’s ruling Fredrik Neij argue that he did not “stand for the premises of the company Portlane”.

It may be added that the domains thepiratebay.nu and piratebay.nu still registered with IIS, but not of the woman who has .se domains, but a Swedish man. They are not included in today’s judgment, and through the domain addresses can be reached without problems The Pirate Bay file-sharing service, which is in the highest degree is still active.
