Reputation: Ultra thin Macbooks with metal hinges at the time – 99mac

New rumors claim that Apple is working on ultra-thin MacBook models with metal bearing hinges to be launched in the second half.

in addition to the introduction of the new MacBook model of twelve-inch, which was introduced last year, Apple’s laptops in the MacBook family used the same design language for several years. New rumors claim that a major change is imminent.

According to the rumor carousel, the new Macbook models based on the design of 12-inch model, but extending this with models of 13- and 15-inch sizes. The larger models will offer more ports, but unlike today’s Macbook Pro models, all the gates be of type # USB Type-C. The reason for this separation is that the computers can be made much thinner than is possible with older USB ports.

It is currently unclear whether the new models replace their counterpart in MacBook Pro family, or if they just extend the range. A reputation that speaks for this is that the new models along with the model of 12 inches replace the Macbook Air product range. The reason for this separation is that the Macbook Air caught between the thin form factor of the Macbook 12-inch and the technological capabilities of Pro family.

the company behind the hinge design in Microsoft’s Surface plates said to be the basis for the next Macbook models.

another major change with the upcoming Macbook models is that they will use a new hinge design between the computer and the lid. The design will use a technology called “Metal Injection holding”. The company behind the solution is Amphenol and is also behind the hinge solution in Microsoft’s Surface plates. The new hinge design should be one of the necessary changes to the new computers will be considerably thinner than current models.

Earlier rumors claimed that the new models to be launched in July, but information from Digitimes indicates the second half as new launch period. Although this is true, Apple can make computers official during this year’s WWDC, which takes place between June 6 to 10.
