Electric planes may soon become a reality – Swedish Dagbladet

Work with different types of electric cars have come a long way and is run in several places. However, even the fossil fuel-dependent flight switch to electric power? At least in part.

I think in any case, the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, which initiates collaboration with the German industrial group Siemens. In a joint project, they have 200 employees working to develop technology for electric aircraft.

– We believe that by 2030 may have passenger plane with over 100 seats powered by a hybrid system, said Tom Enders CEO Airbus in a statement.

by today’s standards it is so whether the plan can be described as larger regional plan, for example, often used for flights within Sweden. Plan for flights within Europe usually have room for 100-200 passengers.

The first stage should the project work with the 2020 show how electric power can be used in different systems which use other engines. Schemes for aircraft of different size but also helicopters and drones.

Siemens and Airbus worked together even earlier and revealed five years ago, up a plane with hybrid drive. Since then, Siemens has developed the electric motor so that it gives five times more power while the weight remains unchanged.

Airbus has also done much work with his E-damn plane. The small plane is powered by two electric motors that get their power from batteries and summer of 2015 flew across the English Channel.

A new version with room for two people was displayed at the Paris Air Show last summer, and it’s supposed to the model will make its first test flight in 2017 and approved the following year. The plane is, among other things meant for the training of pilots.

Since even a four-seat version intended for a slightly wider market.
