Air conditioning is expensive. Therefore want a tech giant data centers operate under the water.

Microsoft is aiming to continue to have their data centers under water. The initiative code-named Project Natick driven by the fact that the plants today generate much heat and must be cooled using air conditioners, which means that energy costs are soaring.

The idea of ​​data centers that are located below the water came from Microsoft hired Sean James, the past service on a submarine belonging to the US Defense Fleet. He should have submitted a paper on this proposal three years ago, prompting management to snatch and initiate project Natick at the end of 2014.

Microsoft has more than 100 data centers scattered around the world .
