Spotify choose Google’s cloud platform – 99mac

streaming music service Spotify move its server business to Google’s cloud platform, a move on, among other things around 2 billion playlists.

# Spotify has partnered with # Google to move the streaming music service’s nearly 2 billion playlists and over 30 million songs to Google’s cloud platform. This sökjätten announces on his blog for Google Cloud Platform.

So far, Spotify had their own engineers who manages the company’s infrastructure in the cloud, and purchased or leased a private server space. They have now decided instead to hire Google services. On the blog writes Google’s Guillaume Leygues:

– recently decided Spotify because they did not want to be in the data center industry, and chose Cloud Platform over other options after the close, steady considerations and tests. [..] What makes us most happy to be working with Spotify is their company wide focus on forward-looking user experiences. Now, when they started using Google Cloud Platform we are waiting anxiously for what Spotify builds next.
