How can a Brexit strike against European research – Sveriges Radio

How will the research be affected if Britain leave the EU?

– They will face the need to negotiate a new agreement for participation in the Framework Programme. But the Commission will surely not prioritize this because you do not want the country to be creamed off, leaving the EU in order to then be able to go with some a la carte, said Dan Andree innovation agency Vinnova.

– I would imagine it gets pretty tough to negotiate such agreements on the sidelines, he continues.

What will be the effect on the rest of the EU from a research perspective on such a large country like Britain would go out?

– Germany is the country we cooperate with most, but Britain is not far behind and they are a very important partner for Sweden. There will be negative for Swedish research because we share responsibility and work together to achieve results.

– As the UK is one of the largest countries in the EU, we will also lose momentum at the European level, he said.
