33 list: Inexpensive electricity from waste heat won in Linköping – New Technology

Lots of energy is wasted as heat. Againity has developed a system that takes care of the heat and turn it into electricity.

The company received as late as Sunday, its first major order from Kenya worth 37 million crowns. Where should Againitys systems used to make electricity and heat from waste.

– We make their garbage dump into a profitable business, says David Frykerås, founder and company president.

The technology to converting heat into electricity based on a so-called organic Rankine cycle where a working medium is vaporized by means of waste heat. The gas is then expanded in a turbine which in turn drives an electricity generator.

The technology is not new and there are several competitors in the market, but Againity make it cheaper and easier thanks to a proprietary, patent pending turbine.

In the semi final in Linkoping competed those against the two Linkoping companies Wematter and Spot Scale.

Wematter has quickly developed its own 3D-printers for plastic components with high strength. The first two printers are now on their way to customers where printouts sold as a service.

Spot Scale specializes in ultra realistic 3D models of buildings and entire neighborhoods where, for example, architects can see how new buildings fit into the environment.

During the competition was to impress the jury by selling in their company on a minute. In addition to the so-called säljpitchen then interviewed companies of the jury.

Both Wematter and Spot Scale still have a chance to take a place in the 33-list presented Tuesday, April 12 at the Munich Brewery in Stockholm starting at 17.
