Volkswagen itself says Budd-e is a “quantum leap”, which when folded mobile phones were replaced by smartphones.

In the midst of all small SUVs and crossover models show Volkswagen up something as rare as an electric van with four-wheel drive on gadget and technology CES.

Although the new Volkswagen Budd-e is a concept, it shows how a modern version of the classic VW bus could look like when it is launched no earlier than 2018. Volkswagen stealth model shown in December.

Maybe Budd-e a way for Volkswagen to “do the right thing” for diesel scandal, with a fun and exciting idea that could become a reality. If so, we too!

Shades, there is no shortage of Volkswagen Budd-e. The fun of Volkswagen’s new EV platform MEB is that it is the basis for very different models, from the tricky electric bus Budd email to Porsche’s concept Mission E and Audi’s crossover E-tron Quattro.

Volkswagen Budd-based email on the new electric vehicle platform MEB and it means that the batteries, which will provide a range of up to 55 mil, are located at the bottom of the car. It gives lower center of gravity and better driving performance. Budd-e can be quick-charged to 80 percent in half an hour.

This clever electric bus is 25 centimeters long and seven centimeters higher than a Golf. Moreover, it is quite well thanks to the two electric motors (one fitted at the front and one at the rear): it fixes 0-100 km / h in 6.9 seconds.

Front has Budd-e the label typical C-shaped LED headlights characteristic of an electric or hybrid car from Volkswagen, but otherwise is a big part of the new design. Budd-e is square boxy and has a new grill that probably pops up on more VW models to come.

Budd-e offers many funny details – here are some of them.

• On the roof are solar cells where energy is used to recharge the batteries.

• On the inside is a screen in front of the driver and it is complemented by two further large touch screens to the left and right. It also has voice control and activated by saying “Hello Budd-e”.

• The system can also determine who activate voice control – if any of the rear seat passengers who want to lower the temperature is done only in the back seat, not in the front seat.

• There are no physical buttons on the steering wheel, but only touch sensitive buttons. According to Volkswagen, it is safer and easier but probably means that the driver has to take his eyes off the road to find the right “key”.

• Budd-e recognizes when someone approaches with infrared technology and opens doors when you wave your hand.

• There is a smart box under the boot lid that folds out to you to get your package delivered there but you need to be in place to open the car. It makes paketutköraren using a smart watch.

• Budd-e also have contact with, for example, connected gadgets in the home, such as lamps and refrigerators. During the presentation using Volkswagen technology to check if there were enough drinks in the refrigerator before tonight’s game.

• And a detail that many will notice the traffic if it complies with the production version of Budd-e: VW mark in front is LED backlit.
