Slack can support video chat – with the help of rival Microsoft – IDG.se

Chat pin Slack has become a dear communication platform for many companies. The only catch is that the program has lacked support for voice and video chat – but now himself the Microsoft remedy it.

 Skype integration for Slack is exactly what the name suggests, a free Skype extension. With the command “/ skype” in a channel or a direct message automatically creates a videoconference that all members can jump into.

 

 On your computer, open the conversation in Skype if it is installed, otherwise the browser, while mobile users must have the Skype application installed on your device to be able to participate.

 The interesting thing about collaboration is that the two companies are in direct competition with each other. Microsoft’s Skype for Business, or Lync as it was previously known, forms a slightly woody antithesis to the young, hip Slack has become a favorite tool among startups.
