Now you can run Android on your PC – New Technology

The company Jide, formerly known for a mocked Windows Surface clone, during the last year made new tag after a Kickstarter campaign that generated $ 1.6 million, equivalent to SEK 145 million. The result is called Remix OS and lets you run Android on a laptop or desktop computer, according to The Verge.

Since Android is open source, anyone want to do our own version, called a fork, and it Remix is what the OS is. Operativsysystemet looks more like Windows or Google’s Chrome OS than Android. Previously, you had to have a small hardware device Remix Mini for $ 70 (about 631 SEK). Now it is no longer necessary, the operating system can be downloaded and run on any PC or Mac with the help of a small USB stick.

Many had hoped that Google’s operating system, Chrome OS, which is used in so-called Chromebooks, would be more like a “real” operating system, that is pretty much Remix OS.

Behind the company Jide is the three former Google engineers Jeremy Zhou, David Ko and Ben Luke.
