Minecraft in the new school version of Microsoft’s way into the classrooms – IDG.se

Even when Microsoft bought Minecraft just over a year ago, it was clear that among other things was about to become stronger in the education field.

Among other things, spoke Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella about how Minecraft is an excellent tool for teaching science subjects.

Even then, there Minecraft in place in the classroom and the school version, which is, according to Microsoft, reached over 7000 classrooms in 40 countries.

Now Microsoft continues on the same path, presenting an expanded version in conjunction with the major school-it-conference Bett which kicks off in London tomorrow.

The investment made in cooperation with the Teacher Gaming LLC and builds on the earlier school version. Microsoft also opens up for teachers to participate in development through a community on education.minecraft.net.

Microsoft is not alone in targeting the school . Just a week ago, Apple sent out a preview of the next major update of the operating system iOS where there are solutions targeted directly to the school world. The main attraction there was the ability to have multiple users on the same iPad, something that has long sought.

Google also a strong foothold in the Swedish school. Chromebooks have been rolled out in several municipalities during the last year, not least since the Data Inspection Board gave Simrishamn green light to use Google’s cloud services in school.
