Fire on the cross – Vasterbotten Courier

Close The popular fast food scarp cross in the southern part of the Skelleftea burned yesterday down to the ground. In the same building there is also gas station Gulf.

It was at a quarter to seven last night as the alarm went off, and it was not long before thick smoke rose from the building. Police cordoned off the area and the fire department had all the resources in place.

Very soon it it is clear that it was a fully developed fire, the entire building with the cross and the Gulf was in flames .

According to Dan Andersson, duty officer at the police in Västerbotten, believed to be the cause of a smoldering fire in the wall. The police even went out with a radio message to the residents in the area where the public are urged to stay away from the smoke.

– The tightening east, said Dan Andersson:

– We have not had to turn off the E4 yet, but we are monitoring developments.

There was last night no information that any person could have been injured.

According to emergency services was explosive risk is minimal. Gas cylinders, etc. could be removed before the fire was fully developed. Neither the underground fuel tanks posed no danger.

– Macken is completely in flames. The initiative focuses on limiting the fire so it does not spread, said Peter Markstedt, the emergency services said.

Late in the evening reported the rescue via Norran that the fire was under control but rescue units would remain on the site during the night for security.

– There is still burning, but what we do now is to check the area so that fire does not spread, said the rescue team leader to the newspaper.
