Impressive shooting stars in the night – Vasterbotten Courier

Close Do you see a mighty star. Then, turn your eyes towards the sky in the night.

The earth is now passing namely through the meteor heat Geminids and heaven can light up in hundreds of white traces. Sometimes more than a shooting star in the minutes.

Starburst rain Geminids are most apparent between 13 and 14 December. And this year is an unusually good year with good chances of seeing the spectacle.

The Geminids are considered last year’s finest meteor swarm. They consist of sand and dust from an old comet. When the earth and the Geminids come together every year around Lucia, some of the stones, which are often no bigger than a centimeter, into the atmosphere and burn up. So arises the mighty star case.

No optical aid is needed but it is only to turn his eyes to heaven. And prospects are good in most parts of Sweden, according to SMHI.
