The previously restrictive strategy that Microsoft used the services of the sale of the plate Surface Pro looks to be scrapped. We have previously written about Microsoft denied dealers to sell their flat, although there have been customers who had asked to buy.

But now, just in time for the tablet wars in the enterprise market to expect when Apple launched its iPad Pro, Microsoft has realigned both globally and locally.

The global part, known as the Land Enterprise Initiative means that Microsoft is using Surface-competitor and partner Dell.

– The basic idea is that we will provide better support to our multinational customers in terms of delivery and support. Dell can do it in a good way in most countries, says Joakim Karlen, product marketing manager for Surface.

Why would they want to sell your products, should not they be primarily interested in selling their own products?

– That the absolute, but we have different segments. They are very strong in the corporate segment, while the Surface Pro is the most expensive segment, so there we will be a great addition.

Thomas Weimer, director of marketing for clients in Swedish Dell responds when asked about what Dell get out of working with a competitor:

 - It creates a larger range. We also have many products, but I think we complement each other. We know that the surface is a product of great demand. I see it as a small component in a large delivery and moreover we book up support.

This change will, in the same time as Apple has its big launch, is hardly a coincidence. Joakim Karlén comment coincidence in time as follows:

 - That’s a good question. I have really no answer. What I can say is that this cooperation has long been discussed.

In the new partnership are also other companies with which Avanade and Accenture. About Accenture says Joakim Karlen them to be part of building business applications for major customers. While HP will be in the context, but according Joakim Karlen is their involvement is still at discussion level.
