Historical event when the spacecraft passed Mars – Swedish Radio

A space probe that has been on the road for nine years passed the little dwarf planet Pluto and could for the first time, take high resolution pictures of it and its moons. Kjell Olauson and Tuvalie Mellin from Örebro astronomy followed the whole event, before they visited Afternoon P4 Örebro.

During Tuesday afternoon passed the space probe “New Horizons” dwarf planet Pluto and it was celebrated by astronomers around the world and also in the compound Orebro Astronomy.

– There is still a bit bewildering, says Tuvalie Mellin.

The information that the spacecraft has collected will be used for research on Pluto, including the atmosphere on Pluto, the dwarf planet looks like inside and how the Kuiper Belt where Pluto included, look.

– The research can be used to provide answers to how the solar system was created and the Kuiper Belt have been very of the responses, says Tuvalie Mellin.
