Taylor Swift raged and Apple listened – slopes of payments to artists during … – IDG.se

Apple’s new music service launched shortly. In order to attract listeners the first three months to be free. All good for the consumer. But the catch was that the artists would also not get paid during the period.

Taylor Swift, who have not made a secret of their approach to streaming services like Spotify and file sharing, therefore chose not to make his 1989 album be available on Apple music. In a blog she wrote: “We do not ask you about a free iPhone, please do not ask us to give you our music without compensation”. While indie labels have protested against the non-remuneration.

Now it seems that Apple vice president Eddy Cue caved in to pressure. Apple will pay the performers, even during the free period. In three tweets, he turned to Taylor Swift and indie musicians and assured them that they will receive compensation even when customers do not pay for the songs.

Recode has been in contact with Eddy Cue who said that it is indeed Swift’s open letter to the company, along with complaints from indie label behind the turnaround. Exactly how much artists, producers and songwriters will get in your wallet is not clear yet. Rightsholders will get paid per nedströmmad song, but how much he says nothing about right now.

Taylor Swift seems pleased with the news, on her popular albums ports on the Apple Music remains to be seen.
