Loopia attacked – Websites affected – Vestmanlands County Newspaper

A powerful hacking attack resulted in the domain now Loopia clients websites slumped on Tuesday.

Loopia AB, based in Västerås, Sweden’s largest provider of Internet domains and one of the largest web hosting company.

On Tuesday, the company suffered a so-called DDoS attack, a coordinated attack from a very large number of computers aims to use all available bandwidth to like that knock out the contested corporate network traffic.

Attacks from hackers is not unusual for the company, says Loopia president Jimmie Eriksson:

– We suffer daily attacks which we mostly can block.

But Tuesday’s attack, which began at one o’clock on Tuesday night with a small preparatory attack. At seven in the morning came the big attack.

– It was an extremely powerful attack that broke through all our protection, says Jimmie Eriksson.

At lunchtime had Loopia managed to protect themselves against the worst disruption for customers remained another few hours.

– We screwed the guards and succeeded in launching the systems back, says Jimmie Eriksson and says:

– You can not protect themselves against all attacks when they are this powerful.

Ddosattacker has hit several major Swedish companies and government agencies in recent years.
