King has done global success with amusement game Candy Crush Saga and its variants. So huge success for new game ideas might have had difficulty to bloom in the shade of them in the Stockholm office. Now open now K36, a new studio at Kungsgatan 36 in Stockholm.

Leader of the new studio will be Adam Schaub already is responsible for finding new titles for the company in its role as head of the company’s IP-studio in Stockholm.

– Stockholm, has been very “Candy” and that part of the deal. Here we go more toward new ways to play and the opportunity to test products faster to the audience to be able to iterate faster and be more creative and to experiment, says Adam Schaub.

The new studio has room for between 80 and 90 people, and right from the start searching King 30 new employees who will be working as producers, graphic artists and programmers. Regarding programmers are developers with knowledge of the language Lua that is high on the wish list.

Although the new studio will work more creatively, we should not expect genre, hope for Candy Crush in the style of Plant vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, where a classic mobile games made the jump to consoles and PCs belt-shoot game.

– There are still so much innovation to be done when it comes to mobile games, says Adam Schaub.

Focus will not will not be on creative new versions the old titles, but on finding new brands for the King to come. K36 will also serve as a nursery for new talent among game developers.

– We are damn hungry for future stars who may not have had the chance to show what they can do yet, says Adam Schaub.

He believes, however, that it may take a while before all the 90 seats in the new studio is full even if the company invests heavily in recruiting right now.

– It should would rather be good with the right people than it should go fast, he said.
