Authorities in the United States examines Apple’s offensive against Spotify.

The US Department of Justice and Commerce Committee has set Apple (with CEO Tim Cook in the lead) under the microscope and examines the mega company launch process of streaming service Beats. According to the online magazine The Verge Apple should have tried to persuade several major record label to scrap an agreement that allows Spotify to deliver music for free.

– These guys are ruthless, all the way up to Tim Cook, said an anonymous source In the music industry to The Verge.

Spotify has about 60 million users. 45 million of these are free users. It has in turn become an infected subject. Among other things, the artist Taylor Swift protested loudly against Spotify free model. Allegedly, Apple should also have tried to persuade the record company Universal to stop supplying Youtube music.

Apple’s offensive is something of a prerequisite for Beats to establish themselves seriously because Spotify and YouTube’s head start in terms of number of users is gigantic. Apple’s goal is not to offer some free solutions at all.
