Now, a self-propelled truck to roll on its own in Nevada – IDG.se

It is the model “Freightliner Inspiration truck” who received special permission from the dry state governor to roll autonomously. The self-driving system called “Highway Pilot System” and is loaded with cameras, radar and other sensors.

When the self-propelled systems take over from the driver so they keep track of the legal speed, that the truck stays in the correct file in a safe braking distance from the vehicle in front but can also slow or stop the truck when traffic situation requires it, according to the manufacturer.

But do not that giant get from point A to point B on their own. It still requires a driver in the cab, but Daimler thinks that hens should be able to do other things to keep track of what’s in the cargo, plan your trip and scheduling. Also required the driver time to time, even in future vehicles. When it is time to leave the motorway for local roadways or parking so let man take over control of the rig.
