The police want the subscription data from Apple – Swedish Radio

Swedish police want to work with computer and mobile phone giant Apple to get subscription information and then be able to investigate, for example, hate crimes. By the summer hope the police get the ok from Apple and eventually also Google.

So far, the police agreed with Facebook, Instagram to get up data in criminal investigations and recently agreed with the social site ASK FM.

The Judiciary starting to catch up

– I think it is gratifying that the judiciary starting to catch up, it is good that the police get the data in this way, says Mårten Schultz who is president of the Institute for Law and the Internet and professor of civil law.

– For it is only possible to solve these crimes, as these violations that take place online in cooperation with the major IT players. So it is a very positive development, he said.

Is there not a risk that too lightly obtains information?

– There is always a Such a risk and you should be careful with personal data especially when it is the State that requests them. But in these cases the risk is far greater for the people who are victims whose crimes can not otherwise be investigated.
