Solprojekt has been tested in secret Värmland lake – Swedish Radio

During the winter, a project with solar panels on the water tested at a secret Värmland lake. The trials are Värmland solar company Nordic Solar.

Jan-Olof Cleve is responsible for the project which aims to see how solar cells on ice withstand the Nordic winter climate:

– We had minus 20 degrees for a few days. And the ice thickness was up more than 30 centimeters, 34 centimeters is probably the highest we have measured this winter, he said.

After the winter, it is observed that the solar cells at a first tuning has passed the Swedish winter climate. But each test lake lies continue to be a secret.

– It is solely for the sample should not be disturbed. We know from experience from the large solar park in Arvika that it has been hit by thefts, and we want to avoid theft and vandalism.
