Interference in the county computers – Västerbotten Courier

Several hundred employees at the Stockholm County Council was forced on Friday to stay at home after a data breach. Some files were inaccessible to the employees, and the County Council regrow payment for encryption to be lifted.

– We are the public administration. We can not even think about paying a villain. It is out of the question, says Anders Nyström, Deputy Head of Administration with responsibility County Council IT security.

The concerned are administrators, so patient activity is not affected according to Magnus Nelin at the press office. Anders Nyström hope that systems should roll as usual on Monday, but it is still unclear how the so-called Trojan could get past the County Council virus protection.

– Our assessment is that it is fairly newly and also other authorities may be affected by it, one can never be sure, he says to idg.se.
