BBC gives away a million computers – New Technology

       

The BBC has together with others including ARM, Microsoft and Samsung have developed a small “Coding device” as the working title Micro Bit.

So far, the details of the frugal. It is not a full-fledged computer with a complete operating system but you should still be able to enter the code compiled and then executed. Micro Bit shall also be compatible with, for example, experiments computer Raspberry Pi and microcontroller Arduino for those wishing to extend functionality. The aim is that the little “programmable unit” in the fall will be distributed free to all UK students in grade seven. The idea is that the Micro Bit to get young people interested in programming and coding to meet the anticipated future shortage of IT professionals in the UK.

In parallel with the development of Micro Bit BBC should produce educational materials that include television and radio programs.
