U2 gives away albums – a half billion – Aftonbladet

How many sheep U2′s new album “Songs of Innocence” free on Apple’s music service iTunes.

– The most personal album we’ve ever written, says the singer Bono in a press release.

It was not just Iwatches and Iphones that was the big news at Apple’s press conference Cupertino, California.

Soon after Apple CEO Tim Cook’s presentation boarded the stage of U2 who performed the title track “The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)” from the new album “Songs of Innocence”.

– Was not that amazing? asked Tim Cook and continued. It would be great with a brand new album.

In the next breath came next bomb: all iTunes users get the album for free nedladding in five weeks.

The album is thus already waiting for the half a billion people who have Itunes.

– It is exciting to think that people who do not know what U2 is or even listening to rock can have the chance to listen to us now, Bono says in a press release shortly after the event.

From the Swedish side, we can pat ourselves on the back a little extra for that Lykke Li is with the song “The Troubles.”

The album contains eleven brand new songs produced by Danger Mouse, Paul Epworth, Ryan Tedder, Declan Gaffey and Flood. According to the group itself, the plate is influenced by everything from 70′s rock to punk and electronic music from the 80s.

It is not the first time that Apple and the band collaborated together. In 2004 launched the iPod, the black red ‘U2 Special Edition, “and now, ten years later releases thus computer giant and rock giants new album.
