Assassin’s Creed titles will no longer be numbered – Gamereactor Sweden

Ubisoft have told us that they will no longer number next Assassin’s Creed game. Instead, they will be named after their respective themes in the future. This tells Assassin’s Creed: Unity developer Arnaud Jamin (via The Games Cabin).

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is thus the last game to get a number in the title, while Assassin’s Creed: Unity begins a new era for the series and when Jamin asked why the upcoming game does not get a fifth title, he replied: “we plan to go with a title That matches the theme in the future.”

We can imagine that it’s a healthy attitude for a game series from which it is released new titles each year. Ubisoft is not likely to have any plans to write a proper ending for his most cash lucrative game series and with numbered titles we eventually had been sitting on an Assassin’s Creed XVI, which can easily discourage newcomers to the series.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity is notoriously not the only assassin game that fans have to look forward to in the fall. On the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will also Assassin’s Creed: Rogue where you play a Templar. Shipping from last year’s game returns in the Rogue and it includes penguins, for those who are interested in such things.
