“Apple Pay is great for us” – Computer Sweden

Computer Sweden’s Mattias Malmqvist says Apple’s bet.

– We are shit happy. When Apple does something, it’s always great fireworks. This will move overnight the issue of mobile payments in the public consciousness in a completely different way to what we other players would be able to do in five years, says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless behind mobile payment system SEQR.

Although several details on Apple Pay is still unclear, so the basic principle is clear how Apple’s mobile payments to go to. Apple Pay is basically debit card transactions carried out with the iPhone 6 handsets. Credit card information is built into the new iPhone 6 handsets and payment transactions are then transferred to the merchant in the store via NFC.

Debit card is in center for Swedish Izettles mobile payment systems. They have a credit card terminal for traders who are connected to the mobile. CEO Jacob de Geer is now planning to provide iZettle terminals with NFC chips so that in addition to the usual card transactions can also handle the payment transactions made with the iPhone 6 and Apple Pay.

– Apple’s launch is fantastic news for the payment industry ecosystem in general. Izettles ambition is to help small businesses grow their businesses and we have always had the attitude that when consumers are ready to pay with NFC we will have such a payment solution in place. After yesterday’s launch from Apple, the development does not take long, says Jacob de Geer.

Seamless mobile payments with SEQR is however completely independent of payment cards. Peter Fredell think it’s sad that Apple’s mobile payment model continued leaning against ordinary debit card transactions.

– Apple’s pay-service has many similarities with Google Wallet. And Google’ve been driving straight into the wall with Wallet. Why? Well, because the traders do not earn anything to use Google Wallet because the system basically only handles regular card payments, he says.

A major player on payments Today’s Swedish Klarna currently working with more than 45 000 e-retailers in Europe. President Sebastian Siemiatkowski says he welcomes Apple’s venture with Apple Pay.

– I think this favors e-commerce and e-commerce grows, so does we. I am also pleased that we have made a strategic shift from being a more streamlined invoicing service to offer different payment methods in the same solution with Klarna Checkout.

– We will make a solution of Apple Pay, and goes on to look at (API interface for programmers). E-tailers do not have to redo their integration, we do automatically for them.

Is not there a risk when a player that Apple will enter the they add to the final take over the market?

– There is such a perspective. On the other hand, tend to be quite excessive, it has been speculated that Apple or Google would outrank Spotify, but it has not happened. And in payments, I think they seem more focused on collaboration with existing players, at least initially, since you never know what will happen in the long run. There is always room for independent and specialist companies.
