An aggressive form of tbe found in ticks of Swedish researchers. The virus can lead to higher mortality and that people are getting sicker. Even today hit around 300 Swedes annually of the disease.

– This is a difficult disease to get. You become very ill and may have permanent brain damage, says Magnus Johansson, a researcher at Örebro University.

Tbe fall into three different forms, and the one that exists in Sweden called Western European TBE, the rest is Siberian and Far Eastern TBE. The three varieties have different virulence, that is, how contagious the virus is and how it causes serious illness in the affected.

Now, researchers at Orebro found a blood-filled ticks in southern Norway with the same type of aggressive virus found in the Czech Republic. The discovery worried because it’s a sign of the spread of the deadly form of the Nordic countries.

 - If it exists in Norway, it can also be found here. There are alarming although there is no question of any wild epidemic, says Magnus Johansson.

infected each year between 200 and 300 people in Sweden of tick-borne tbe – Sweden has more cases than Norway and Finland together. And the virus is spreading all the time to new areas, which increases the risk that more people will get the dangerous virus.

Deaths in tbe is unusual in Sweden, but the number can increase if the aggressive form taking hold. The first symptoms of the disease are head and muscle aches, fatigue and fever. In serious cases, tbe cause brain inflammation and brain damage.

The only way to avoid the disease is to get vaccinated. Although the Swedes prompted the statistics show that it is inadequate, the number of infections is steadily increasing.

Some argue that we should introduce tbe in the vaccination program to stop the spread. This was done in Austria and then reduced the number of TBE-infected 1000-50 cases per year, according to Magnus Johansson.
