Fire Ravaged land to become eco-park – Aftonbladet

Stockholm. Government Sveaskog, one of the timber companies with large estates in the fire-affected area in Västmanland, plans to make an eco-park of its 1,500 hectare fire ravaged woodland. Ecological Park, which would include more than one tenth of the affected forest area, would benefit the species and wildlife that specifically grows in soils that had burned.

– We put the 20 percent of our land for conservation purposes, and then we prioritize the areas of greatest conservation value. And with this fire, this area received very high conservation, says Herman Sundqvist, forest manager at Sveaskog.
